Beijing, China – From November 3 to November 6, MicroPort Endovascular (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. ("MicroPort® Endovascular") attended the Ninth China Endovascular Course & 2016 National Continuing Education Program for Vascular Surgeons ( "CEC 2016") that was held in the Beijing National Convention Center, to display its innovative products and host academic symposiums. CEC 2016 was hosted by Beijing Anzhen Hospital of Capital Medical University, Chinese PLA General Hospital, Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University, and Cross-Straits Medicine Exchange Association.
In the session of the comprehensive therapy of aortic diseases, Professor Weiguo Fu of Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University revealed the three-month results of premarket clinical studies of Minos™ Ultra Low Profile Bifurcated Stent-Graft and Delivery System ("Minos™") for the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm ("AAA"). He pointed out that Minos™ has unique advantages in treating AAA with tortuous or short aortic neck or narrow introducing artery. In the speech of "the Application of Uni-body Bifurcated Stent-Graft System in Aortoiliac Diseases," Professor Bo Yu of Huashan Hospital of Fudan University said, Aegis™ Bifurcated Stent-Graft System ("Aegis™") can be anatomically fixed by the aortic bifurcation point, to prevent the migration of the stent graft after implantation as well as retain the original anatomical structure of aortic bifurcation, which lowers the occurrence of inter-operative limb ischemia and makes the interventional treatment of lower extremity more convenient. Besides, Aegis™ offers tailored designs, eliminates the risk of typeⅢ endoleak, and reduces deformation of stent graft. Compared to modular AAA stents, Aegis™ features minimal surgical injury, easy operation and high stability, which makes it a safe and effective device in the endovascular treatment of AAA.
Meanwhile, live cases of MicroPort® Endovascular products were broadcasted in the forum. Specifically, in the session of AAA endovascular treatment, a live case of Minos™ in the treatment of AAA was broadcasted. The surgery, performed by Professor Changwei Liu of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, demonstrated the excellent efficacy of the device in the treatment of complex AAA, especially for patients with narrow introducing artery, with added advantages in introducing performance. In the session of endovascular treatment of complex aortic diseases, a surgery of "TEVER + Double-Chimney" performed by Professor Chang Shu of Fuwai Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences was broadcasted. In the surgery, Professor Shu positioned MicroPort® Endovascular's Hercules™-T Low Profile Stent-Graft and Delivery System ("HT-LP") close to the root of the innominate artery, and meanwhile reconstructed the left common carotid artery and the left subclavian artery by Double-Chimney technique. The post-operative CTA and three-dimensional reconstruction showed that the arterial aneurysm was completely excluded, the stent was in good condition, and the chimney graft remained patent, which once again proved the excellent cross-arch ability and delivery stability of HT-LP.
On the occasion of the forum, MicroPort® Endovascular hosted two symposiums in which Professors Xiaoming Zhang and Xuemin Zhang of Peking University People's Hospital were invited to share the latest clinical experience and academic viewpoints respectively on the Clinical Application of Low Profile Stent-Graft System and the Clinical Application of Uni-body Design in the Aortic Endovascular Treatment.
In the symposium of the Clinical Application of Low Profile Stent-Graft System, Professor Xiaoming Zhang of Peking University People's Hospital chaired the meeting, and exchanged ideas with Professor Xiangchen Dai of the General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University, Professor Jianhua Huang of Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, and Professor Xiaolong Wei of Changhai Hospital of the Second Military Medical School about the clinical application of Minos™, the clinical advantages of Low Profile stent graft system in special thoracic aortic diseases, and the endovascular treatment of complex thoracic aortic diseases, while analyzing the classic cases in their hospitals.
In the symposium of the Clinical Application of Uni-body Design, Professor Xuemin Zhang of Peking University People's Hospital chaired the meeting, and discussed with Professor Fang Dong of Gansu Provincial Hospital and Professor Meng Ye of Renji Hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine regarding the experience in using the uni-body bifurcated stent-graft system, the application of the device in complex EVAR, and its advantages in the protection of internal iliac artery especially in double iliac artery aneurysms without aortic necks.
With the combination of academic exchanges and physical simulations, the two symposiums attracted many surgeons and experts to discuss the indications, difficulties in clinical applications, and surgical techniques of Aegis™ and Low Profile Stent Graft System, which were well received by attendees.
During the forum, MicroPort® Endovascular displayed several innovative products such as HT-LP and Castor™ Thoracic Branch Stent-Graft System, and many attendees were attracted to get the hands-on experience in the features and operating techniques of MicroPort® Endovascular products with product simulation. In the future, MicroPort® Endovascular will continue to stick to the innovative R&D and broaden its product line, to offer individualized treatment and service to patients with aortic and peripheral vascular diseases.
